FXGT Leverage & Margin for Malaysia
FXGT offers dynamic leverage up to 1:1000 on its standard account types, and up to 1:5000 on the Optimus account.
No Malaysian rule sets that ceiling. The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) licenses capital-market intermediaries under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 and keeps a public Investor Alert List of firms operating without its authorisation; Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) covers the banking and money-services side. FXGT holds neither authorisation, so a Malaysia-resident applicant is onboarded by an offshore FXGT entity and the leverage cap that applies is that entity's.
Open FXGT Account →FXGT's leverage ceiling is 1:1000 on Mini, Standard, Pro and ECN Zero and 1:5000 on Optimus, which runs on MT5 only. On a Malaysia-resident account that ceiling is set by the FXGT entity and the tier chosen at sign-up, not by a Malaysian regulator.
FXGT Leverage at a glance for Malaysia-based clients
The leverage figures FXGT publishes, and what they mean on an account opened from Malaysia:
- Mini, Standard, Pro and ECN Zero all cap out at 1:1000
- Optimus is the outlier, reaching up to 1:5000 — and it runs on MT5 only
- The cap comes from the FXGT entity that onboards the account and from the tier chosen, not from a Malaysian regulator
- Higher leverage cuts both ways — it can trigger a margin call or stop-out faster than a lower-leverage position would
Leverage by account
| Account | Max leverage |
|---|---|
| Mini / Standard / Pro / ECN Zero | up to 1:1000 |
| Optimus (MT5 only) | up to 1:5000 |
| Set by a Malaysian rule? | No — by the FXGT entity and the account tier |
What the ceiling changes once an account is funded is the margin requirement, not the trade. The same position opened on Optimus ties up a fraction of the equity it would on Standard, which is also why the adverse move that reaches a stop-out is a fraction of the size. Margin level, not profit and loss, is what triggers the call.
A deposit made in ringgit is converted into the account's base currency, so free margin on a Malaysia-funded account moves with USD/MYR even when nothing is open. Two things are worth reading on FXGT's own site before funding: which entity the account is opened with, and what that entity says about negative-balance protection — neither is decided in Kuala Lumpur.
